{first day of school}

Finally.  The day that had been anticipated for so long was here.

Ryan has been looking forward to school and his classes since the spring when he signed up for them--especially math and technology. Since we don't get to go to his first class with him any more, I had to settle for just one picture.  :)

(Okay, so do you want to know the whole story? Did you notice his socks?  When he left for school it was too hard to get a good picture, so I told him we would do it after school.  I forgot to do it right when he came home, so this picture was taken about 5pm, after I made him get his socks, shoes, and backpack on.  He was thrilled. These were not the socks he wore to school, but the only ones within a 2 foot radius of his shoes.)

Ready to go!

We took the girls to school on the first day to get them settled in their classrooms, and it was so fun to see them look around the room and see their teacher, desk, and all their new friends. We decided to place them into different classrooms, and it will be the first time they will be separated for any length of time.  It's the right decision, but it will definitely be an adjustment.

It was a bittersweet morning.  I don't know where the last five years went, but I do know they went way too fast.

The second day of school was also a big day, since it was the first time they would ride the bus to school. (Their new favorite pose, can you tell?)

Our bus stop is just across from our driveway, which is fantastic. We all walk to the bus stop together to wait for it, and it makes for quite the morning adventure. The boys are in {LOVE} with the bus.  Henry thought he was getting on with the girls, which was a little tricky, but overall the whole process went well. Emma was a little nervous to get on, but I walked her to the doors and she grabbed Kate's hand, and then it was okay.  It's nice to have a built-in best friend.

School days are here again!

Since the girls looked so happy the second day, I'm assuming they did fine separated for the school day.

LOL at having to do Ryan's picture in the afternoon--I have had to do that so many times ; )

I hope they all have a great year.

How was it home with just the little guys??? Hope you had a great day and that all of you enjoy the year, too.

Ok that picture of Ryan is hysterical! What a big first day for the girls. I love that picture of Kate smiling out of the bus window and I love that I get to see your girls grinning ear to ear each morning when they pull up to our stop.

I'm glad it all went well. I remember a couple of my girls had a hard time when they were initially separated but it's been a great choice for us. How does it feel to only have two home?

Love Ryan's socks! :) The girls look darling! Do your boys miss their siblings? Tatum is getting into so much mischief since the kids went back to school. I think she is bored!
