{first words}

I love so many stages of baby and toddlerhood, but I have to admit that one of my most favorite is when they're learning to talk.  For so long you wonder what they're thinking, and what they wish they could say, and then you can start seeing glimpses of it when those first words start coming. And the way they pronounce words...isn't it the best?

We still talk about many of Ryan's first words--like "watoo" (water), "cak" (his word for all birds), and "burnoo" (hot..as in "burn you") and many more.  We loved how he said his own name, "Rynee", and when I'm feeling especially sentimental, it will still slip out.  We have our favorites for the girls too--we still call chipmunks "chick-munks", Corn Flakes are "Snow Flakes", and candy canes are "candy cans".

Jack and Henry are just beginning their journey of word discovery, and every day we hear another new word or two.  I really do love it, and I wish I could just carry around a recorder all the time.  When my mom came to visit, she brought tapes of me when I was about their age, and it was so fun to hear how I sounded, and to hear my parents and little brother in the background. I take a lot of pictures, but I need to be better at audio/video.
Here are a few of  my favorites...

{Jack}

"luck", or "lucky"= yuck, yucky ( I LOVE this--we try to get him to say it all the time!)
"cuckoo" = cookie
Kate
"Ryo" = Ryan
Emma
"bankie" = blanket
baby
mouse
"nack"= snack
"Enry" = Henry--he totally sounds British
"love-oo" = love you

{Henry}

eat
"nack"= snack
go
bye-bye
car
"mo" = more
mine
yeah = yes
nope
"lu-lush" = flush
"lu-light"= light
why (my personal favorite, lol)
"cuckoo" = cookie

Henry loves to say everything twice, so I'll often hear "Go, go, Mom, Mom!"
.....

The best part? Those little voices...
