Jack has a best friend.
His name is Daddy.
He has always had an affinity for Rick--really from the time he was born--but over the last few months it has intensified. It's even earned Jack the nickname "b.f.", which I think is hysterical. And sweet.

He has always had an affinity for Rick--really from the time he was born--but over the last few months it has intensified. It's even earned Jack the nickname "b.f.", which I think is hysterical. And sweet.
For example...
- When Rick is home, he is that only one that can hold Jack, change his clothes or diaper, get his food, pour his milk, or anything else he might need. (Which isn't always so bad...☺) As soon as he hears that garage door open, that's it--it's all about his Daddy. The rest of us? That's right. Chopped liver.
- When you say someone is attached at the hip to someone else, that phrase was created for Jack and his dad. He literally follows him everywhere he goes--doesn't matter where--and wants to do exactly what he does. He even has his own seat in the workshop where he can watch a show while Rick works.
- He is very protective of Rick's things. This morning I was making the bed, and starting folding Rick's MSU blanket. Jack FREAKED out, tried to grab it from me, clearly not wanting me to touch it or do anything with it. He ran into the bathroom to tell Rick, and he had to tell Jack it was okay before he would calm down. This is only one of many examples that happen on a regular basis--I could go on and on. Honestly, I think that he could give the Secret Service a run for their money!
- He loves to help his Dad. Each morning he gets Rick's slippers and places them next to the shower, so he'll have them when he gets out. You know, I'd like that kind of service.
- Apparently, he only loves his dad when he's home. When Rick says "I love you", Jack will respond "love-oo". If anyone else tries to say it, he growls.
- I looked back through the last 6 months of pictures, and I could only find ONE where I'm the one holding Jack.
Fortunately, I'm the number two, with Kate a very close third (sometimes she outranks me too), so I still get some love and chances to change his diaper while Rick is at work.
When I'm lucky, I even get a "love-oo".
Rick is good at spreading his love around to everyone, but he always does it with a little Jack-Jack at his side.

This just makes me smile SO MUCH. I especially loved reading about the incident with his MSU blanket ; )
I smiled through this post, but at the "love-oo" to Rick, then growling to everyone else, I LOLed. I couldn't help it. I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall at your house!
Love it! Love you and your family! I'm so far behind following you and I'm sad....I've missed so much! Rick is a good dad and you are a good mom! :)
